Large Numbers Around Us

Explore lakhs and crores, Indian and international place value, button-calculator decomposition, rounding, estimation, and product patterns.

What are Large Numbers?

Large numbers help us describe populations, heights, money, stadium capacity, city data, and everyday quantities that are too large to count one by one.

One lakh: \(1,00,000\), or 1 followed by 5 zeroes.
One crore: \(1,00,00,000\), or 1 followed by 7 zeroes. It is 100 lakhs.
Indian comma pattern: After the first three digits from the right, digits are grouped in pairs: 3-2-2-2...

Type a number to see its Indian and International comma grouping.
