Whole Number × Fraction
n × a/b = (n × a)/b
Example: 3 × 1/4 = 3/4.
Fraction × Fraction
a/b × c/d = ac/bd
Example: 2/3 × 3/5 = 6/15 = 2/5.
Fraction of Quantity
a/b of n = a/b × n
Example: 3/4 of 20 = 15.
Simplify
Divide numerator and denominator by their common factor.
6/8 = 3/4.
Compare Fractions
Use common denominator or cross multiplication.
Unit Rate
Distance = rate × time.
1/4 km per hour for 3 hours = 3/4 km.
